Well it's be quiet sometime sice I've posted anything.
I'm not going to fill the gaps in from there till now, except for a major event that happened to me.
I became very ill firstly, to the point that both my kidneys failed eventually, and only 6 months ago, i was lucky enough to have received a double transplant of which was a kidney and a pancreas.
All I can say is thank you to the family that gave permission for there son who had passed away tragically to donate his organs, if it was not for this family, I myself and a few others might not be here today. And if I really think about this, there is nothing greater for me now than to honor the gift that was given to me for a second chance in life, and that is what I'm doing by sharing my story with others making other people aware of the life giving through becoming an organ donor.
In most states and territories of Australia we follow the Opt-In method of becoming a donor, what people don't realise is just because you opt-in doesn't always mean your organs will be used, and not because they are not good, but because, by law when you are brain dead, your next of kin or immediate family will be contacted one to inform them of what has happened to you, and secondly to get permission to use your organs, now if they decide to say no then your body and organs will not be used, even if it was your wish for your organs to be used.
So it is important for all Australians who decide to become donors to speak with family and friends and tell them your wishes and the reason for it. Again i was lucky that a family allowed there son's organs to be used.
Whilst some people are waiting for a transplant, be it, the heart, lungs, liver, kidney's or other organs, some of those on the waiting will not make it and will pass away.
So once again I thank the family who every they are for giving me another chance at life.
